Visitation Update: April 2nd, 2021

April 2, 2021

I am writing to share news regarding visitation at Chase City Health & Rehab Center. CMS published guidance specific to nursing home visitation on March 10, 2021, which has been incorporated into our visitation plan.  We acknowledge this has been a long, challenging year for both patients and their loved ones, and we are excited to be able to offer more visitation options while maintaining the safety of our patients, visitors and staff to the best of our ability.

Effective April 1, 2021, we will begin offering indoor visitation in designated areas of the Center in addition to our outdoor visitation schedule.  Virtual and compassionate visits will also continue to be available.

Outlined below are key points to our visitation plan:

  • All visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Scheduling is on a first come, first served basis by utilizing our online scheduling portal or by contacting the social worker if you do not have internet access.
  • Initially, indoor visits will be scheduled every 10 days to allow the opportunity for all patients to have a visit.
  • Visits will be scheduled for 30 minutes in duration, Thursday through Sunday, between the hours of 11:00 – 12:00 am and 1:00 – 3:00 pm.

Note: Sunday visitation will only include indoor visits.

  • The number of visitors per patient at one time and the total number of visitors in the Center at one time must be limited. Each patient is allowed two visitors per visit. Visitors must be age 10 or older.
  • COVID-19 testing will be available for any visitor participating in a visit. Completion of a consent form is a requirement of testing. If you would like to be tested prior to your visit, please notify the social worker or receptionist and arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled visit to allow time for testing.
  • We ask that visitors who have received COVID-19 vaccination bring proof of vaccination to their initial visit.
  • We ask that you refrain from eating or drinking during visits in an effort to eliminate the need to remove face masks.
  • We will continue to screen all visitors for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 including temperature checks and asking screening questions. Any visitor who is experiencing signs or symptoms of COVID-19 will not be allowed to visit.
  • Face masks must be worn appropriately (covering nose and mouth) during each visit.
  • Social distancing of a minimum of 6 feet should be maintained.
  • Hand hygiene should also be practiced before and after each visit.

Visitors who fail to adhere to these core principles will not be permitted to visit and will be asked to leave.

The safety of our patients is the responsibility of the Center. Staff members are required to monitor visitation to ensure the core principles of infection prevention are observed at all times while offering as much privacy to visitors as practicable. By following these precautions, we are confident that we can safely facilitate visitation inside the Center.

Should the Center be required to initiate outbreak testing, visitation will be suspended pending the outcome of testing. If the county positivity rate increases to more than 10%, we will evaluate the current vaccination percentage among patients and communicate any changes to visitation accordingly.
