Registered Dietitian Day

Posted on:

Observed on the second Wednesday in March, National Registered Dietitian (R.D) day celebrates the contributions of dietitians.  It was created in 2008 by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to raise awareness of the indispensable role that R.D. play in helping people enjoy a healthy life.

To celebrate the day, we want to introduce you to Chase City Health & Rehab‘s Registered Dietitian.  Everyone, please meet…

I have been a registered dietitian for over 32 years now. I have worked as both a Clinical Dietitian and a Food Service Director in the past, but the bulk of my experience has been in Dialysis and Long Term Care.  When I first went to college, I thought I wanted to be in Interior Design, but I became interested in Dietetics through my mother, who is a nurse.  She encouraged this by saying “You know you will always have a job!”

I have 4 grown children, 1 boy, and 3 girls.  My oldest daughter is a Reading Specialist, lives in Houston, and is expecting her first baby in April!

My son is a Captain at a local Regional jail, and he and his wife have a 2-year-old son.  They’re expecting their second in May.

My # 3 and #4 children are twin girls, one of which is in Research and Development at Boars Head, and the other is a Librarian. Neither of them is married yet.

My “grandma name” is KitKat, and my lap is about to get really full!
